pdxsf day five and six

here's what camping looks like!

pdxsf day three

I somehow barely took any pictures in sf, and the ones I did take were shit. again, 86ing the canon after this, I'm just not in a place to learn how a new thing works. ol' reliable-ish mamiya just got a pay raise increase. ANYWAY. alex martin, one of the raddest ladies I know, took me on a whirl wind adventure where we: ate breakfast, texted in nature, drove a car, and ate at in-n-out, all while having deep conversation about life and love and sex and mental health. it was really one of the most beautiful days ever, and exactly how I wish every day of my life was. I wish I had brought some e-6, and my mamiya, cause her hair and her incredibly beautiful eyes were meant for it, and I also wish she lived near me, so we could replay days like this all the damn time.

also during this day, dean helped me get my tire fixed, I hung out with siesta dave, I caught up with veronica, and I went to the bar with all of the people above and more. zero documentation. too busy loving life?

pdxsf day two

because of our late start on thursday, we barely stopped on friday, and when we did, it was usually for gas, but I did get a couple of gems

pdxsf day one

we got a little of a late start, due to the first of two tire problems on the trip, but the fact that we made it to this spot, to take these pictures, means that our timing was perfect. nature, plus justin smoking some tobacco. cause people do that. out of glass pipes. while in nature.

pdxsf

so, justin asked me if I wanted to go camping. I said yes, and then altered our plan to involve motorcycles, and also a detour to san francisco. I think it was the right choice.

my first modification to my bike was the simon p green camera mount, which was followed by some of the best bungee chord attachments I've ever done. it may look like a lot of stuff, but most of that has to do with the fact that my sleeping bag doesn't really compress, and is in the bottom bag, and the other camping gear I brought with me. the casio ended up being the right choice, as well.

macro

I think the only thing I really like about my new canon is the macro lens. so, when I 86 the canon from the group, I'll really miss that. maybe I can find one for my mamiya?

first river trip of 2011:

my first river trip involved an amazing motorcycle ride, buds, babes, perfect weather, and the river. what more could you ask for? first roll shot with the 50mm lens for the canon, and I think I'm gonna go back to the 28mm for the next roll, I like it a lot better.

CANON

I got my first ever canon the other day. I believe it's an early 80s/late 70s canon av-1. along with it I got a 50mm 1:1.8 lens, a 135mm 1:3.5 lens, a 75-200mm 1:4.5 macro zoom lens, and a 28mm 1:2.8 lens. this was shot with the last of them. also a flash, carrying cases, and manuals which is great, because I've only ever shot with a 50mm 1:1.8 before. all of this for $40 as well, pretty damn stoked.

matt smith

matt smith is one of the most interesting guys I know. from sailing around the world to being obsessed with legos, to being really subtly great with jokes, to being hella smart, matt's one of those dudes that not a lot of people know about, which is a bummer for you fools that are missing out. maybe it's because he hangs out with loud mouths like me, that drown out the way funnier shit that matt says. actually, that's probably it. anyway, matt's rad. stoked that I know the dude.

the drunken late night how are we not getting a noise complaint party

I took a couple of pictures from the late night party in the room, but I think this one is the best. blown out. brodeo with that little half smile that indicates he's wasted. allen laughing so hard that he's almost gonna fall over, while jake looks like he's got his shit together, even though he's using that wall to not fall down. it was a great party, and it was strange being the soberest one in the room. also, I'm pretty sure this party ended with brodeo sleeping in a parking garage, but it's honestly a mystery to everyone where he went.

fuck knuckles and surf turd?

okay, I'm pretty sure that was supposed to say SURF and TURF, but that TURF looks like TURD. also, I wish ciao would have gotten in a fight that night, as his plan to double punch someone and yell "you got fuck knuckled" would have been AWESOME to experience.

pizza party!

i love the the concierge had us pegged as hipsters and told us to order pizza from the hippy pizza place with natural ingredients because, as it turns out, we are hipsters, and it was hella good pizza. ashley, lynda, elliot, and bret.
